Redmi Note 8 / 8 Pro: Design and Display
In terms of design, the Note 8 / 8 Pro features an Aura design (introduced with the Note 7 series) along with a P2i coating, IP52 dust and water protection (Note 8 Pro), and Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and the back. In addition, the Note 8 Pro comes with a 4-sided curved rear glass that makes the phone comfortable to hold in any orientation. Talking about color options, the Note 8 comes in four colors: Neptune Blue, Moonlight White, Space Black, and Cosmic Purple, whereas, the Note 8 Pro offers three options to choose from, namely Gamma Green, Halo White, and Shadow Black. Towards the front, the Note 8 has a 6.39-inch Full HD+ display with a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Whereas, the Note 8 Pro has a 6.53-inch dot notch Full HD+ display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, HDR support, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Redmi Note 8 / 8 Pro: Performance
At its core, the Note 8 runs on an 11nm Octa-Core Snapdragon 665 processor with Adreno 610 GPU, paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB with a dedicated microSD card). It packs in a 4000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. On the other hand, the Note 8 Pro comes with a 12nm Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G90T processor with Mali G76 GPU running under the hood, making it the first smartphone to come with the Helio G90T chipset. The phone offers 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB with a dedicated microSD card). And to power everything, it has a 4500mAh battery with 18W fast charging. As for other hardware specifications, the phones come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm audio jack, IR sensor, FM Radio, USB Type-C, and built-in Alexa with dual wake word (Redmi Note 8 Pro). On the software front, the Note 8 / 8 Pro runs on MIUI 10, based on Android 9 Pie, out of the box.

For optics, the Note 8 comes with a quad-camera array on the rear. The setup includes a 48MP primary Samsung ISOCELL GM2 sensor with f/1.79 aperture and EIS, an 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens with 1.12μm pixel size, a 2MP macro lens with 1.75μm pixel size and f/2.4 aperture, and a 2MP depth sensor. Towards the front, it has a 13MP front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Similarly, the Note 8 Pro also sports a quad-camera setup on the rear, except, it includes a 64MP primary Samsung GW1 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and EIS, an 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens with 1.12μm pixel size, a 2MP macro lens with 1.75μm pixel size and f/2.4 aperture, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it has a 20MP camera with AI beautify, AI scene detection, and Portrait mode.
