While a few previous leaks have somewhat revealed a few of the Galaxy Z Flip details, we now have a clear first look at the device, thanks to WinFuture. Looking at the product renders, it seems that the device will come in a purple colorway (official name yet to be known) with a foldable design and a dual-camera setup on the rear. From the looks of it, the Z Flip appears to be very thin and comes in at 7.2mm thickness when opened and 15.3 – 17.3mm when closed. And, it weighs in at around 183g. When compared to the Galaxy Fold, which is Samsung’s first take on a foldable smartphone, the Z Flip takes a different approach with the form factor and rather than opening up horizontally, it takes inspiration from the Motorola Razr and has a smaller footprint that opens vertically, much like the older generation flip phones. Towards the front, the Galaxy Z Flip appears to have a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display (when unfolded), with a tall 22:9 aspect ratio and bezels around all its sides. The display is rumored to be an Ultra-Thin Glass display to offer better durability, and it offers a resolution of 2636 x 1080 pixels, HDR10+ support, and a hole-punch cutout to house the front-facing camera. Besides this, the device also features a small 1.06-inch Super AMOLED display on the outside with a 300 x 116 pixels screen resolution, to show basic information such as time, battery status, notification, etc. As already mentioned, the Galaxy Z Flip sports a dual-camera setup on the rear, which according to the renders includes a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 12MP secondary wide-angle sensor with 123-degree FoV. Whereas, on the front, it sports a 10MP selfie camera with auto-focus capabilities. As for other hardware specifications, the device is expected to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage (no microSD card support). It runs on the latest Android 10 with Samsung OneUI 2 on top and includes a 3300mAh battery with 15W charging and 9W wireless charging. As for the pricing and availability, the Galaxy Z Flip is expected to be announced at the Samsung Unpacked event on February 11 alongside the all-new S20 series. And based on the leaks, it seems that the device would carry a price tag of around €1500 (~ $1651). Furthermore, some of the leaked information suggests that the device might go on pre-order a few hours later before its launch on February 14 across Europe and the United States.
