1. Bottom UI Flag on Chrome Beta We begin with a tip, not an app. However, this could be one of the most useful as it’s for your internet browser. Google’s Chrome Beta app on Android has a nifty little flag which brings the entire interface to the bottom. Therefore, you won’t have to struggle for pressing the new tab icon next time. For enabling it, fire up or download Chrome beta, head over to this link and under chrome home, select enabled....

Call Reason To give you some background, Truecaller added the Call Alert feature on the app sometime last year, which gave users a notification before someone on the other end placed a call. And now, it is further adding to the functionality with the Call Reason feature. The company says Call Reason has been one of the most requested features by its users in 2020. By incorporating it, it seems that they are expecting the call pick-up rates to go up, especially for cases where callers call with new numbers....

There is, however, a very good chance that this “integration” might cure one of OnePlus’ biggest headaches – photography. Cameras that Never Settled Now, ever since OnePlus got its phone journey underway in 2014 with the first OnePlus, it has built a formidable reputation for itself in many departments. Thanks to a tie-up with Philips, users will see the lights in their room change in sync with the sites they are surfing – so if you are on Facebook, get ready for the room to get a blue-ish tint or go all-white when you are on Google (we have not tried it out with TechPP yet – do mail us your experiences if you do). Of course, you will need to have Philips’ Hue color lights and enable the color syncing feature from the Philips Hue Bridge, pointing out which lights the browser will control....

Vivo Nex and Nex Ultimate Features The Nex smartphones sport a large 6.59-inch 19.3:9 Super AMOLED Ultra FullView display with an incredible screen to body ratio of 91.24% which hasn’t been achieved earlier. To achieve this look, Vivo had to move the front-facing 8MP camera to the top housed in a mechanized enclosure which will pop up when the camera app is opened. The Nex and Nex Ultimate also sport a fingerprint scanner embedded into the display region, using the same technology as we saw on the Vivo X21, but is touted to be 50% more accurate and 10% faster....

And 2022 has got underway with Vivo adding its own contender to the list – the Vivo V23 Pro. Vivo has taken a very different approach from its competitors at around this price point to the brand’s credit. While most have tried to play up their spec sheets and unleash potential “flagship killers,” Vivo has developed a device that focuses on style rather than benchmark scores and spec readouts. It might not have the heavy-duty specs that some of the devices at this price point do, but it has other features that they do not....

A German blog seems to have gotten hold of the private beta for the app and the screenshots depict video calling and a couple of other features being tested out. Apart from the Video calling thing, WhatsApp also seems to be testing a multiple chat window option that would let users private chat with users in different tabs, simultaneously. The Video calling menu comes baked with the usual set of features including the front/back camera toggle, repositioning the video preview on the main screen and the option to mute/unmute the microphone....

Nomophobia is well and truly real. While I might be inching towards one extreme end of “screen time”, I’m sure a lot of people would fit in this scale of high screen time in their day-to-day lives. Windows XP (especially SP3) is so sophisticated in itself that Microsoft – which usually gives its products around 10 year life span for support and services – kept on extending the support for Windows XP. But now, they have decided to call it quits, so on 8th April 2014, Microsoft will be finally ending its support – deserting security revisions, critical patches and assistance. To remind you, Barra left Google for Xiaomi, back in September 2013 and his contributions to the Chinese company have helped them become (and be recognized as) the world’s most valuable startup. Now it seems that Xiaomi is ready to expand its operations into major international markets, including the US. Xiaomi’s VP said that the company had already filed for 2,000 patents that would help them consolidate their legal position....

Samsung is back at number two…and is gunning for number one! After a period at being number three in the Indian smartphone market, Samsung is not only back at number two but its 4.8 million unit shipment was less than a million units behind Xiaomi, who was number one with 5.4 million shipments. Samsung’s share of 26.3 percent was also within striking range of Xiaomi’s 29.4 percent. The report attributes Samsung’s success to the popularity of the M series in general, which also became available offline, and the M21 in particular, which was one of the highest-selling models of the quarter....

The company has expanded its IMAP support to include Gmail and Google Apps accounts thus enabling users to club in their email accounts within the app. Yahoo seems to have come up with this feature to attract more Google services users and tempt them to try out the Yahoo mail client. Until now Yahoo Mail used to support Outlook, AOL Mail and Hotmail, the Gmail was the only major one to be left out....

This had to happen sooner than later, but it has happened much sooner than we expected. Google has just released a brand new homegrown YouTube app for iOS, which is available for download on iTunes app store right now. This comes just days after Apple and Google decided to end their 5 year old deal to ship YouTube app with every iOS device released since 2007. This included all models of iPhone till date, all models of iPad, iPod Touch & Apple TV....

But beneath those very similar sounding specs are a number of improvements on the cameras of the latest iPhones. Most are subtle, but there is one in the Pro range that jumps right out at you – the macro mode. For the uninitiated, the macro mode is used to take extreme close-ups – shots that you take from literally an inch or two from the subject. Those amazing insect or water droplet close-ups?...

In fact, in spite of boasting the biggest display we have seen on an iPhone – 6.5 inches (would that make Steve J turn in his grave? Another story, another time, folks) – it is actually… wait for it… it is actually smaller in size than the iPhone 8 Plus, which had a display that was 5.5 inches. The XS Max is 157.5 mm long, 77.4 mm wide and definitely on the thinner side at 7....

I got access to the device a day ago, and well, I must confess that I am a little confused as to why it has not got more attention. For, what you get with the Chromebook Duet is a 10.1 inch full HD tablet, a full QWERTY keyboard with a touchpad that can be magnetically attached to the tablet and covers its front, as well as a back cover that adds a kickstand to the tablet....

Retina display? Check. USB Type-C? Check. Touch ID? Check. Slimmed out bezels? Check. The design is mash-up of the new MacBook Pros and the good-old MacBook Air with a tapered base. It’s a full retina display which is a HUGE markup to the old MacBook Air, but not True tone like the new MBP. Glossy LCD with sRGB color spectrum can be a disappointment for some. It’s still 13.3-inch screen, but cutting down of bezels and some ports (more on that later) has led to a smaller footprint, and it is now 17% lesser volume than before and a quarter pound lighter....
